This position is 100% On-site. Travel between County facilities as needed. This is a potential contract to hire position, therefore, candidates must be US Citizens or Permanent residents to apply.
Description:
Our client is looking for a Network Technician. The Network Technician supports the County's network, voice and communications infrastructure in a multi-site and multi-partner environment. Performs analysis, implementation, support, maintenance and monitoring of these systems while following County standards. Provides project management for small to mid-size projects.
Tasks/Responsibilities
Plan, procure, implement, support, maintain, monitor and troubleshoot the County's overall network infrastructure including wireless, internet, data, voice, and video communications.
Implement and maintain security for all networks
Monitor systems to ensure proper performance. Troubleshoot and repair issues
Serve as project leader of small to mid-size network related projects.
Write technical specifications, coordinate resources and training, plan and perform installations and create documentation.
Document systems, configurations, inventory, licenses, and procedures. Create training materials for IT staff and end users.
Provide mentoring and technical support to other IT staff members.
Consult with users to recommend ways IT can help them reach their goals in a cost effective manner.
Assist in the development of IT controls, processes, standards, policies and procedures.
Backup the Network Engineers, Network Technicians, System Engineers and System Technicians
Other required skills
Exceptional communication (verbal and written) skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage/complete/priotize multiple projects at once while also actively participating in team projects.
Considerable ability to adapt, learn new technical concepts and perform in unfamiliar environments with or without formal training.
Frequently required to bend, stoop, kneel and crouch. Able to life, carry, push, pull or otherwise move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Able to access panels and perform work within confined wiring closets.
Skills Required
1-2 years - Experience configuring, supporting and securing voice technologies (analog, digital, IP, mobile, voicemail, call center, recording, call distribution, etc.)
1-2 years - Experience configuring, supporting and securing IP Video Recording Systems
1-2 years - Experience configuring, supporting, and securing data switches, routers
Experience configuring, supporting and securing wireless technologies (802.11b/b/n/ac/ax, Microwave, cellular)
Working knowledge of Video Recording Systems
Associate’s Degree
Skills Desired
Working knowledge of network security including encryption certificates, proxy servers, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), intrusion prevention systems, DMZ security, VPN technologies, etc.
Working knowledge of Server Systems (Windows Servers, Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy, Domains, Domain Name Systems, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, virtualization, SQL Server, etc.)
